Where is Kanye when you need him!

The Internet is reeling over some very candid comments John Mayer made about Black women in a recent Playboy interview. I have to admit, I winced when reading several of his comments in general during the article (like when he outlines his response to someone recently asking him: “What does it feel like now to have a hood pass?” click source below to read the interview in it’s entirety), but here’s what he had to say about Black women in particular:

PLAYBOY: Do black women throw themselves at you?

MAYER: I don’t think I open myself to it. My di-k is sort of like a white supremacist. I’ve got a Benetton heart and a fu–in’ David Duke cock. I’m going to start dating separately from my di-k.

PLAYBOY: Let’s put some names out there. Let’s get specific.

MAYER: I always thought Holly Robinson Peete was gorgeous. Every white dude loved Hilary from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. And Kerry Washington. She’s superhot, and she’s also white-girl crazy. Kerry Washington would break your heart like a white girl. Just all of a sudden she’d be like, “Yeah, I sucked his di-k. Whatever.” And you’d be like, “What? We weren’t talking about that.”

So Mayer has a self proclaimed racist di-k? It definitely took some balls for him to say that! He could’ve picked a more PC way to make the point that he doesn’t really date Black women, for sure, and I’m not feeling the way he talked about Kerry!  But is there really a problem in general with Mayer saying that he doesn’t date Black women? I know several Black women who will honestly say that they don’t really check for White men when it comes to dating either. Plus judging by many of the comments in last month’s post about Reggie Bush gracing the February cover of Essence, there’s a whole lot of folks who would prefer that Black people only date other Black people anyway (wheew some of ya’ll went off!). So tell us:

Are John Mayer’s comments offensive to you? If so, why?
